My practice explores storytelling through the materiality of the canvas. Coming from a filmmaking background, I approach painting as a form of editing. Small fragments of canvas are selected, trimmed and assembled back together, until they begin to reveal the shape and flow of a complex story. Sewing becomes a way of thinking through the image: connecting, correcting, insisting, sometimes repairing. Decisions are made through cuts, juxtapositions and rhythms rather than composition alone. The surface becomes a site of construction and interruption, covered with marks that are not entirely mine: a tear, a fold, a resistance. I responds to it with paint and ink. Shapes turn into characters, gestures into events and colours into interactions. What matters is not resolution but continuity, how one mark leads to another, how the image remains open, negotiated, unfinished.
